Fun week

We did our maternity photos last week.    On our way to the shoot we could see a terrible storm off in the distant.   But the sun was out too.  So we had a rainbow, lightning and the sun all in one shot.  Luckily the storm did not last long and by the time we got to the park it had stopped raining.  It made for some really pretty photos.  We didn't get the sunset shots we wanted but still neat with the clouds and sun.  We did the pictures at a little park down on the bay by the airport.  I actually never knew it existed.    Our photographer was really nice.  We took some pictures on the beach, in the water and on a dock.  She is still working on them, but I hope they turn out well!!

My coworkers threw me a shower this weekend.  I am lucky enough to work with some amazing women.  My coworker Jaime is actually pregnant too, and due the same day.  This is her second baby so she's been a big help for me.  The shower was great.  They had tons of food and yummy desserts.  Jaime made a cute diaper cake with little golf clubs in it.   Some of my friends from outside of the zoo came as well.  It was so nice to see everyone!  I got so many more wonderful gifts.  I really feel so lucky and honored to be given two showers.  Being pregnant has been great!  I am a little sad to have it coming to an end but what is waiting at the end sure is going to be great!!

We also took our hospital tour.  We are delivering at St. Joseph's hospital North.  It's a newer hospital, about 5 years old.  I really liked it.    We were there on a Sunday so it was quiet.  They have 4 delivery rooms which are huge!   It turned out that everyone who was there on our tour was delivering with the same doctors.   Once you deliver you go upstairs to their mom/baby unit.  Again, very nice, clean.    They do a lot of things that I wanted like keep the baby in the room, skin to skin, and they are pro breastfeeding.

Only 6 weeks left.  EEK!

7 weeks....

We've got about 7 weeks to go!  I am so excited.    Last night we had some friends over who have a 6 month old little girl.  She was so adorable.  It just reassured me how excited I am to have our baby.  I can't wait to have our own little munchkin.

We found a pediatrician.  My friends have recommended a group called the Pediatric Health Care Alliance.  There are several offices and one is right across the street from us.  Small office, but very close.  I think it should work out fine.

We had our 32 week appointment yesterday.  We met the last doctor in the practice.  She was our favorite, but we have liked them all.  She said I was measuring small.  So we have to get an ultrasound on our next visit.  He is in the 55th percentile for size so they just want to make sure everything is ok.  This will be our 5th ultrasound.  Even though it's not the best that we have to have it done, I love getting to see him again!!

Next week we are going to visit our hospital.  It's only 11 mins from our house.  It will be nice to check it out and feel comfortable.

This week we are planning to get some maternity photos taken.  I have really been wanting to get pictures done.  Getting pregnant was difficult for us and so I really wanted to remember it.  Our photographer does a package for newborns and maternity photos so we are going to get newborn photos too!

Baby's room

The baby's room is 95% done!!  All we need is a mattress.  And too hang up his name letters once he's born!  We really love it.  We went with blue and green.   My mom made an adorable flag pin up.   I also used items from my shower.   It's really come together nicely.   He's going to sleep with us a bunch.  But I'm sure we will use his room for diaper changes and nursing!

Scary week

As my due date approaches the idea and thought of labor sure is scary !   I've only heard bad things about how hard, painful, and long it can be.  In all my pregnancy books they talk about preterm labor too.  Not only is that scary because you have to go into labor but then the baby is born too soon.  With all those thoughts in my head, this has been a rough week.  Monday at work I started having pains in my abdomen near my belly button.  It only got worse as the day went on.  You start to freak yourself out too.  Could be this, could be that, is something really wrong.  I called the nurse when I got home and after speaking to her they thought it was muscular not internal.  So I need to not work so hard.  I might have pulled something.  So I can't do as much lifting. It's hard to explain to people how physical my job is but it's very tough.  I spoke to my team and they have been so supportive.  I just really have to be careful.  So I started to be more careful on Wednesday and Thursday.  I was really being careful on Thursday but then had a small scare.  This may be TMI but I figured I'd share.  I had some spotting which was really scary!  I called the dr and they said to come right in.  Again you start to freak yourself.  Small panic attack.  Please nothing be wrong, don't be labor, just be something minimal.   At the dr they did an ultrasound and said everything looked great!  Phew!!!!  Placenta, fluid, heartbeat, and baby.  The dr then checked me out too.  Said my cervix is inflamed but not sure why.  She said it wasn't a really bad thing but they were going to check for an infection.   They also checked to make sure I wasn't dilated and I wasn't.   She said in pregnancy that there are a ton reasons that could happen.  But to just rest and take it easy.  So that was my plan.  I was gunna go home and lay down.  When I got home our AC wasn't working.  Ugh!!!!   We just got it fixed 5 weeks ago.  Then my phone died cus I left my charger at work.  Today was not my day.  So I had to wait for Steve to come home.  We were able to get a hold of a friend who works on AC for a living.  He came right over.  Turns out they put some float thing on upside down.  What?  Luckily he fixed it in 10 mins.   Yea!!! It was 86 degrees in our house already.  I don't do well in heat, especially now that I'm pregnant.   To add insult to injury I got a terrible upset stomach during that.  Pretty sure stress did that!  Do you ever get the feeling you just weren't supposed to get out of bed.  That was my day.  Hope the weekend is better!

Babymoon!

Steve and I decided to take a short trip to get away before baby arrives!  My dad got us a timeshare at west Palm Beach. It was fabulous!  Ocean view.   We got there Thursday and went to the zoo.   It was a tiny little zoo but we had fun.  Then we checked in.   My friend Nicole lives down the street so she came to dinner with her husband Jeff.  Great time catching up.   Saturday we layed by the pool for several hours which was great.  It wasn't too hot.  I got to wear my new maternity suit Steve's mom got me.   I even had a virgin pina coloda and daquri.  Yum!    Then we walked to the beach bar so Steve could have a beer and we had a yummy snack.   For dinner we went to J Alexander's.  It was delicious!! Steak tacos.   We had to leave Saturday to get home for Ethel.  But we met up with my SIL parents who live nearby also.  They are so sweet and even treated us to brunch.  Great trip all around!!
