Scary week
As my due date approaches the idea and thought of labor sure is scary ! I've only heard bad things about how hard, painful, and long it can be. In all my pregnancy books they talk about preterm labor too. Not only is that scary because you have to go into labor but then the baby is born too soon. With all those thoughts in my head, this has been a rough week. Monday at work I started having pains in my abdomen near my belly button. It only got worse as the day went on. You start to freak yourself out too. Could be this, could be that, is something really wrong. I called the nurse when I got home and after speaking to her they thought it was muscular not internal. So I need to not work so hard. I might have pulled something. So I can't do as much lifting. It's hard to explain to people how physical my job is but it's very tough. I spoke to my team and they have been so supportive. I just really have to be careful. So I started to be more careful on Wednesday and Thursday. I was really being careful on Thursday but then had a small scare. This may be TMI but I figured I'd share. I had some spotting which was really scary! I called the dr and they said to come right in. Again you start to freak yourself. Small panic attack. Please nothing be wrong, don't be labor, just be something minimal. At the dr they did an ultrasound and said everything looked great! Phew!!!! Placenta, fluid, heartbeat, and baby. The dr then checked me out too. Said my cervix is inflamed but not sure why. She said it wasn't a really bad thing but they were going to check for an infection. They also checked to make sure I wasn't dilated and I wasn't. She said in pregnancy that there are a ton reasons that could happen. But to just rest and take it easy. So that was my plan. I was gunna go home and lay down. When I got home our AC wasn't working. Ugh!!!! We just got it fixed 5 weeks ago. Then my phone died cus I left my charger at work. Today was not my day. So I had to wait for Steve to come home. We were able to get a hold of a friend who works on AC for a living. He came right over. Turns out they put some float thing on upside down. What? Luckily he fixed it in 10 mins. Yea!!! It was 86 degrees in our house already. I don't do well in heat, especially now that I'm pregnant. To add insult to injury I got a terrible upset stomach during that. Pretty sure stress did that! Do you ever get the feeling you just weren't supposed to get out of bed. That was my day. Hope the weekend is better!

That sucks! Hope you are keeping cool and taking it easy! Sounds like you need to read my labor story again- it's not all that bad!
ReplyDeleteOh no! So sorry for the crappy day. And so glad you and baby are still doing okay. I remember well how much there is to think about before labor - I think not knowing how it will go is so stressful. All I have to say is that an epidural is a wonderful thing, and seeing and holding your baby for the first time can be so amazing - in the end, it is such a special day.
