Pre pregnancy shape
I had my 6 week check up. I'm all cleared to work out. After sitting around for 6 weeks, I am very excited. I plan to start running again. I will run when Steve is around in the evenings so he can take AJ. I went out last night and did a run/walk for 25 mins. It felt great! It wasn't too hard and I feel pretty good. I have about 10 lbs I'd like to lose to get back to where I was pre pregnancy. I understand that will take a while. The biggest thing is getting into some pants other than maternity. I may have to go buy a pair before that happens! I also want to work out to get my body used to being active. Going back to work is going to be killer. I'll be on my feet for 12 hours, in the sun, lifting 40 plus lbs each day. I will also start scuba diving again. I'm really excited for that! It's been almost a year since I last dove with our manatees. So here we go!

You definitely have a more physically demanding job than most! You're going to get back in shape once you're working whether you want to or not, I bet ;) I don't know how common it is, but I know for me, my hips/pelvis took a little while to come back together, so even with weight loss, I still had to wear maternity or stretchy clothes, or go a size up for a little while. It all eventually came back the way it was before, more or less.
ReplyDeleteI love that pic with the rainbow!
Buying an "intermediate" pair of pants is a great idea! I have just put away all of my "transition" clothes. I got lucky and my body shape went back to the same but I always had bigger hips. My feet however are permanently wider. I am sort of jealous of your active job! I'm terrified of gaining weight now that I'm working but I try not to sit too much. Enjoy those walks and time to yourself, it can be so restorative.
ReplyDeleteSomething else to possibly make your work life easier... I don't know how long your commute is but if it's over 15 minutes, you can get a pumping in on your drive to work. You can get either a adapter or battery pack and pump under a nursing cover while you're driving. You could do it on the way home too if you wanted. A lot of mom in this area do it daily and they say it saves so much time!
