23 weeks today! Things are coming along nicely....Baby Lipp is moving around more and more. Today he is the size of a Mango. Cute!
We found a day care!! Hooray/Boo. I am very glad we found a day care and reserved our spot but also makes me sad. I haven't even met our little man yet and already I have to think about leaving him. Can you love something you haven't met? Yes. So I know it's going to be tough.
Steve and I weighed all our options.
1. Don't work = not a option....we can't afford that. Which of course I would love the most, at least for a little while
2. Work and do day care = Very expensive but at least then we have income
3. Don't do my job but find some part time thing = not going to work
So we are going to option 2. Day care is expensive. We looked at several places and they are all about the same price wise. We wanted something on the way to work rather than right by our house. It's funny how when you start to go tour these places how they all have different quirks and qualities. The first place we checked out was La Petite Academy. Cute, cozy, older facility. We really liked the people. Their ratio for infants was 4:1 (good). Their staff had been there a long time, which is also good. All very sweet.
The second place we looked at was called Creative Learning near our house. Newer facility, but not as cozy. The people weren't as friendly and pricer -- that one was out.
We looked at Discovery Point. Nice people, cozy, same price but inconvenient due to their hours.
Last we looked at another La Petite....the lady was so rushed to show us around. Never even told us her name...just felt like she didn't care. We left there saying no.
So we went with the first place...La Petite Academy. They even lowered their registration price and said we could use it towards our first week. Winner! All the hours of daycare aren't great. 6:30-6:30 And they don't do weekends. Steve and I don't work "normal" hours or days, so this will be tough. Luckily we only need to do daycare 3 days a week. I wish they did part time but they don't. So Steve is going to change his schedule so he can pick up the baby instead of me since I can't get there by 6:30. We will have to continue to work opposite weekend days for a long time.... We are already doing that now, so it's not terrible. Our plan is to take Baby Lipp there for trial runs before we have to leave him for the whole day. I figure it's going to be the hardest on me.
